Azeez Fashola, popularly known by his stage name, was born in Agege, Lagos on May 10, 1991. At the age of 11, he moved to Peckham, South London, England where he obtained his General Certificate of Secondary Education (GCSE).
Naira Marley graduated with a distinction in business at Peckham Academy, he went on to study business law at Crossways College, now known as Christ the King Sixth Form College.
Naira Marley young career wish was to be a Master of Ceremony (MC) and a voice-over artist. He later developed passion for music and started his career in 2014. His first debut single was ‘Marry Juana’ which was co-produced by Max Twigz. In December 2017, Naira Marley collaborated with Olamide and Lil Kesh to release ‘Issa Goal’, the song became the theme song for the Super Eagles at the 2018 FIFA World Cup. In 2018, he featured Olamide, Lil Kesh, Simi, Falz and Slimcase in the remix of ‘Issa Goal.
On May 3, 2019, Naira Marley was picked up by the EFCC on the same day he released his track, ‘Am I a Yahoo Boy’ featuring Zlatan. He was charged on an 11-count charge bothering on internet fraud but was later granted bail. On December 30 2019, he hosted the Marlian Fest, which was held at the Eko Hotels and Suites. That was when he announced the launch of his record label ‘Marlian Records’.
Naira Marley has gone on to release other songs that have placed him among top musicians in the country.
According to Fashola, his stage name was inspired by the legendary Bob Marley’s name.
