Pippa Middletons Future Brother-in-Law Was the UK Bachelor

When royals and reality TV collide! Pippa Middleton’s future brother-in-law Spencer Matthews, the younger brother of her fiancé, James Matthews, once starred on the U.K.’s version of The Bachelor.

Spencer searched for a potential wife on the dating competition series in 2012. Though he chose blonde beauty Khloe Evans at the end of the show, the handsome London resident broke things off days later, after she was spotted smooching another British reality TV hunk: The Only Way Is Essex’s Tom Pearce.

Prior to his attempt at finding love on national television, Spencer appeared on the U.K.’s Hills-inspired docuseries Made In Chelsea in 2011. He remained a lead character on the faux drama-filled show until 2015.

His small-screen pursuits also include a 2015 stint on I’m a Celebrity … Get Me Out of Here! and a recurring gig as a presenter on the daytime talk show Loose Women.

Middleton — who accepted a proposal from 40-year-old financier James on Sunday, July 17, during a vacation in the Lake District of northwest England — is connected to the British Monarchy. Now that she’s engaged to James, the Celebrate author, 32, and her royal family (her sister Duchess Kate is married to Prince William) will soon welcome England’s equivalent of Ben Higgins to their esteemed brood.

Before his older brother asked for Middleton’s hand in marriage with a stunning vintage-inspired engagement ring, Spencer claimed to have a fair share of royal connections. During a 2012 interview with Radio Times, Spencer boasted about his regal social circle.

“I went to Eton with Prince Harry, he was a year above me,” he said. “I know Princesses Eugenie and Beatrice really well, too. Bea’s boyfriend Dave Clark is a very good friend of mine.”
